It has been a while since I sat through a film that made me smile, and at times even break into a hearty laughter. Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, did both.
The film, by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Abbas Tyrewala, is about love.
It has no great production values, no great packaging, no fantastic storyline to speak of. And surprisingly, no unforgettable lines by Tyrewala, who has given us plenty in Munnabhai, Maqbool and Main Hoon Na. The good thing is AR Rahman's music reflects the soul of the film, youthful, easy, breezy.

1977. Harry Burns (Billy Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) share a long car ride from the University of Chicago to their new, post graduation lives in NYC. En route, they discuss whether a man and a woman can be friends, without sex getting in the way. Concluding that they cannot be friends, they part ways upon their arrival.

Five years later. Sally and Harry share a plane flight. Sally is now in a relationship with Joe (Steven Ford), while Harry is about to get married to Helen (Harley Kozak). Once again, Harry explains why men and women can't be friends, even if they're in a relationship with other people. They part ways again once the flight is over.

Another five years later. Sally tells her friends, Marie (Carrie Fisher) and Alice (Lisa Jane Persky) she and Joe broke up, while Harry tells his friend, Jess (Bruno Kirby) that Helen has left him. Harry and Sally meet again, in a bookstore, and over dinner discuss their lives. Harry is surprised to realize he has a "woman friend", and they go on to have late night phone conversations (about Casablanca, for example, and whether Ingrid Bergman should have stayed with Humphry Bogart at the end of the movie), go to museums, and so on. Sally feels uncomfortable telling Harry she is dating again, but he encourages her to do so, and tells her about his dates. They discuss his relationships with women, and Sally fakes an orgasm at a diner, to show him it can be done. An older lady (director Rob Reiner's mom, Estelle Reiner) orders "what she's having" for dinner.

Over dinner, Harry tries to match Sally to Jesse, while Sally tries to match Harry to Marie. Marie and Jesse end up together.

Four months later, Harry and Sally are shopping for Jesse and Marie's upcoming wedding, when the bump into Harry ex-wife. Later, we learn that Sally is now dating Gary (Kyle Heffner), while Harry is dating Emily (Tracy Reiner), but when Sally learns that her ex-boyfriend, Joe, is getting married to someone else, she calls Harry in the middle of the night. He comes over to comfort her, and they end up having sex.

Not sure how to handle the situation, Harry and Sally grow apart. At Jesse and Marie's wedding they have a fight, but sometime later, during a new year's eve party, Harry comes over and tell Sally that he loves her. They kiss and, later, get married.

Goodfellas' is a masterpiece, pure and simple. While not my favourite Martin Scorsese movie it is a stunning achievement, and one of his very best movies. The film is stunning technically. The consistently fine acting by the large ensemble cast (both known and unknown), the cinematography, editing, dialogue, brilliant use of music, it's all breathtaking. But Scorsese and co-writer Mitch Pileggi never lose lose sight of their main goal - to tell a story. And in that it's really hard to beat this movie. As to the actors De Niro is on top form, Ray Liotta is the best he's ever been, and this is Joe Pesci's definitive performance. Plus you have Lorraine Bracco, Paul Sorvino, Michael Imperioli, and lots of well known faces in small but important roles (Debi Mazar, Samuel L. Jackson, Illeana Douglas, Kevin Corrigan), plus dozens of unfamiliar actors (and non-actors) who are all so good it seems unfair just to single out the "stars". (Also keep an eye out for Vincent Gallo in a few scenes. He has no lines, but looks cool!). 'Goodfellas' is (to date) Scorsese's last Great Movie, and one of the very best films of the 1990s. Absolutely essential viewing for any movie fan, this tremendous film is not to be missed! Highly recommended!

Missamma is a film that denies the natural phenomenon of aging. It is the film that is liked by all the generations. It is a slapstick comedy on the problem of unemployement. Ony Vijaya banner can produce films that have comedy situations, melodious songs and humorous dialogues mixed in right blend. It was remade in Tamil as 'Missiyamma'. Total credit for the success of this film goes to the trio Pingali, Saluri and Chakrapani.

Story of this film goes like this. Daughter of a Jamindar is lost in Kakinada Pushkaralu. She was spotted by a Christian family and they adapt her and names her as Mary. Jamindar starts school in memory of his lost daughter. Being an ex precipal and a detective Akkineni looks after managing of the school and he keeps on searching for Jamindar's daughter. Being an unemployed graduate NTR had to pair up with Mary and act as her husband in order to secure the job of teacher in Jamindar's school. Though Mary and NTR dislike each other, they acts as a married couple. At the end all the mystaries get solved.

The character of Detective is a memorable one. Akkieni did this role. Tangavelu and Kishore Kumar donned this role in Tamil and Hindi versions. NTR's role was done by Gemini Ganeshan in Tamil version. Bala Krishna acted as assistant to detective. One more memorable role is that of Relangi who acted as a blind begger.

Chakrapani selected Bhanumathi for the Mary role. But when Bhanumathi reported late to the shooting (as she was performing Vara Laxmi Pooja that day) Chakrapani made a dynamic decision to replace her with Savitri. And the rest is history. " May be it's the God's decision that Savitri should become most popular star, I lost that film to Savitri" says Bhanumti.

Though Missamma touches a burning issue called unemployment Chakrapani disagrees with a point that his films carry messages to viewers. He feels that films should entertain. "If anybody want to give social messages let them send telegrams to viewers instead of making films" says Chakrapani. Indian producers make their actors imitage Chaplin when they made comedy films. But Chakrapani made sure that his character's do not get affected by 'Chapline' towering presence. He feels that comedy should have local touch.

The same principle applies to 'Chandamama' a magazine for entertaining kids. Chandamama is also published from Vijaya's group. Recently the same film is recycled and released as 'Brindavanam' that has Rajendra Prasad and Ramya in main leads.

Vijaya banner is known for producing 'golden films'. With the use of excellent narration skills by the director Kamalakara Kameswara Rao and the right casting, the producer duo Chakrapani-Nagireddy gave a wholesome entertainer in the form of 'Gundamma Katha'.
Gundamma (Suryakantham) has a son, an exploited stepdaughter, for whom she hopes to get a 'resident' son-in-law who can also look after the rest of the family. Two brothers Anji (NTR) and Raja (ANR), decide to teach the old woman a lesson for the harm she once did to their family.
Kamalakara Kameswara Rao garu is known as 'Pauranika Chitra Brahma'. With this film, he tried his hand at comedy and passed out with flying colors. Another major contributor for this film's success is the dialogue writer DV Narasaraju. He gave fine dialogues like …
"Paalallo neellu kalapakapothe .. petrol kaluputhaara?""Vunnollantha vedhavalaithe … mana telivikem .. Divitilaa veligi podoo?""Manishi sukhaniki kavalsindi .. manasulu kaani .. aasthi paastulu kaavu""Aasaku Chaavu ledu!'
NTR donned the role of a rich guy with a strong determination. ANR acted as another rich man who is addicted to alcohol. Savitri, who acted in soft roles in the past acted as a strong-willed woman, who is very hard to convince. Jamuna played a headstrong lady. The scene-stealer of the film is none but Smt. Suryakantham, who made a mark for herself with this film. SVR did a short yet nice role of the father of heroes.
This film is also a musical masterpiece. Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao garu has given excellent tunes for 'kolukoloyanna', 'veshamu maarchenu', 'kanulu moosina neevaye', 'prema yatralaku'. Lyricist Pingali Nagendra Rao garu coined new words like 'Sakhinera Choopula', 'Jagamuna Ooty Saayaga'. He also compared the 'preyasi jada' with 'valapu paasam'.
Producer Chakrapani credited with direction of the Tamil version of Gundamma Katha as Manithan Maravillai tasted failure unlike the stupendous success of the original Telugu version. Gundamma Katha is regarded as the last film of Vijaya's 'Golden Age'.

The reason for this hatred is that Raju's and Mahalaxmi's respective parents hate each other, and no amount of mediation, or even the suggestion of such, will ever mend fences, leaving Mahalaxmi and Raju to an unknown fate.

For those of Rajendra Prasad fans who missed the actor in him, this film will satisfy to the core. Raghu Ramayya (Rajendra Prasad) is an editor. Raghu Ramayya is a kind-hearted person such as one explained in Chandamama stories. He goes to the extent of spliting his regular earnings into half. First part for his family and the second part for helping the needy. Raghu Ramayya is a very helpful person and helps one and all including his family in the same way. His wife Janaki (Amani), two sons Ping Pong and Raja and daughter Revathi are quite against this attitude. On the other hand Kotayya (Kota Srinivasa Rao) is a financier. He loans money on interest and is very strict with his business. For him nothing on earth could replace money. The family of Raghu Ramayya bring on severe pressure for money to pay donation to ping pong, donation of Raja's SI job and helping Revathi to go to US. Though Raghu Ramayya rejects the idea of providing money for wrong reasons, he finally budges in due to the pressure put up by the family. He gets the loan from Kotayya to pay for the needs of the family. In a way he accepts the defeat of his ideology that love should be more valued than money in life and commits suicide. The film starts off with Raghu Ramayya narrating the story to the Yama Kinkaras. After his death, Raghu Ramayya's children take the money and hide in a hotel. They dont want to be bugged by the loaners. So, will the children come out to perform the final rituals to their father? Is money more valuable than love? Watch it on silver screen to find the answers. The highlight of the film is the performances by Rajendra Prasad and Kota Srinivasa Rao. Rajendra Prasad yet again proved his versatility. With this film he conveys that it is the story and directors that would get the best out of him and he is always the same. This is another feather in the cap role for Rajendra Prasad and undoubtedly he excelled in the role. Competing ith Rajendra Prasad in the performance is Kota. After a long time, Kota got such a role that got the actor out of him. The role of Kotayya could be done by no one else. Such is his performance. Amani did her role quite well as the wife and mother struggling between the attitude of her husband and children. Raja, Giridhar and others played their parts well. This film brings back another actor, who is away from big screen for some time. Subhaleka Sudhakar. One wonders why he is not seen much on the screen any more. He is such a brilliant actor. This film gave him good scope to perform. Hope to see more of him in the future. Coming to the film, the asset of the film are the performances, concept and photography. The narration is like a Teleplay. The flow is like that of a TV serial with snail paced narration. First half runs dragged. Add to the slow narration, there is much of lectures about the concepts of the life in the film. Music of the film is not impressive either. Background score is also so so. Dialogues were not clear in some dialogues. Also the getups of Yamakinkaras are worse and very artificial. Though the concept is etched out well, the pace-lacking narration kills it. Second half is a relief compared to first half. Emotional scenes carry the film to a better level. Surendra Reddy, who did cinematography for Bollywood films, did handle the camera for this film and did it fine. Overall the film has the share of good and bad. Whatever be the case, the film can be watched once for sure for performances, direction.

It would be unfair to call Aamir Khan the life of the DCH though his popularity in India and abroad would have drawn a substantial part of the film's audience. He gives a brilliant performance as usual as Akash. His scenes with Akshaye Khanna and some scenes shot in Australia (Opera, phone call to Sid, etc) are mind-blowing! SAif Ali Khan is the surprise packet of Dil Chahta Hai and there is a lot of untapped talent in him especially where comedy roles are concerned. But I felt that the best performance came from Akshaye Khanna who plays the character of Sid to perfection. His mannerisms, thinking, behaviour is very authentic and makes us all identify with his character closely. Preity Zinta looks gorgeous and is her usual chirpy self. Sonali Kulkarni could have certainly looked better without all that makeup. Dimple Kapadia shows how a good role can bring out an elegant performance from a seasoned actress.The best aspect of Dil Chahta Hai other than the actors' performances was the music. This is hopefully the start of more non-run of the mill compositions in Bollywood. Ofcourse, I hope for a lot more compositions like these from the music directors Shankar-Eshaan-Loy. The title song was the best and gels really well with this trndy film. Other good songs are 'Jaane Kyon', 'Kaise HAi yeh Rut' and 'Tanhayee'. 'Woh ladki hai kahan' - a parody of old Hindi songs is simply hillarious. The lyrics provided by the director's father, veteran Javed Akhtar are simply amazing and complement the story of the film to perfection!Overall, a very entertaining feature and I hope to see more films like these in the near future. Three cheers to Farhan Akhtar and his team!!!

It is vital that films based on society and family be made from time to time. It is heartening that purely family oriented movies are still being made by serious film makers. Madan, who has established himself as the story writer of the award winning family themed movie "Aa Naluguru" ventures out to produce "Pelliainakothallo" that has a story penned by him again. Pelliainakothallo deals with the problems of some modern marriages where hectic lifestyles and increasing economic freedom that results in inflated egos, have given rise to fragility in the marriage bond. Hari (Jagapati Babu) and Laxmi (Priyamani) are two executives working in different call centers. They become husband and wife via the traditional arranged marriage mode. Brain washed by their friends Krishna Bhagwan and Jhansi, both Jagapati Babu and Priyamani are intent on dominating the other to gain an upper hand in the marriage equation from the day one or the first night of their marriage. Love and attraction for each other is replaced by the eagerness to dominate and avoiding getting dominated. So they live like strangers in a three bed roomed flat, use separate bathrooms, and TV sets as well. All because of their huge egos they do not even sleep with each other. Their job shift schedules do nothing to keep them together. How their problem is solved is the rest of the story.Kudos to Madan in striving to make a socially relevant movie! The movie though is not convincing at times, is an above average one. For example, though insightful, the slow and gradual break up as well as the sudden reunion of their relationship is not very convincing. The plot should have dwelt more on their reunion making it an equally gradual process. The nagging feeling that lingers is that the reunion and building of understating between the two should have been shown in greater detail with a lot of romance thrown in.The good points of the movie are about talking of chemistry between the partners, the depiction of financial freedom of the wife, the strong bond between an old couple and the devaluation of grooms in the marriage market. The act of Sunil marketing Venumadhav as an ageing groom much like cattle marketed in fairs is hilarious and yet has a serious social message. The working of call centers and work related stress is also well depicted. On the whole, definitely a movie that deserves to be seen.

For a directorial debut, Ajay Devgan has done a good job. The story of a boy falling head over heels in love at first sight with bits of humor and a few songs, make for a entertaining first half. While the first half is a light entertainer, the second half is an intense drama, handled equally well by Devgan. But the problem with the second half is the length, the movie drags endlessly in the second half. Atleast 15 mins from the movie could have been easily edited off for better impact. The writing could have been better too, you hardly feel for the lovers when they part. Also the supporting characters are highly irritating, especially in the first half.
Scenes from U Me Aur Hum that stand out (Possible Spoilers)
- Typical Bollywood-istyle romance in the first half.- The baby drowing scene in the second half - Brilliant!- When Ajay finds Piya, lost on the middle of the road, right in front of her house!- When Ajay confronts Piya in the second half.
The music by Vishal Bharadwaj is very good. The title track ‘U Me Aur Hum’ and the dance number ‘Jee Le’ stands out.. Background score in the second half is great. The cinematography is brilliant.
Its Kajol who stands out yet again with a brilliant performance. Always lively on screen, fantastic expressions, great smile. Kajol is the soul of U Me Aur Hum. Ajay Devgan known for his hard hitting roles, is good in a romantic role, although a bit off in highly emotional scenes. Karan Khanna in a comic role, is irritating. Isha Sharwani looks gorgeous, performs well. Sumeet Raghavan is a great actor also the only supporting character worth-a-mention. Divya Dutta is average, looks plumpy. Sachin Khedekar is good.
Overall, U Me Aur Hum is a good movie but not without it share of flaws. The latter part of the second half tends to get boring. But its Kajol’s brilliance that makes U Me Aur Hum worth a watch. At the all important box-office, the advance booking is good but Krazzy 4 will be a tough competitor. Item numbers by Hrithik, SRK and also the fact that audiences usually prefer comedies these days could go against U Me Aur Hum.

CRAP:It is full and full entertainer. The narration of the movie is outstanding. It could be a case study for the film institutes on how to make a film with a small line of story. It is really fun to listen from lot of review makers on line who are banging about the story. I don't know why they are not able to see the truth that there is no story in lot of blockbusters like pokiri, kushi, aadi and more. What are all the stories in those movies a hero heroin and villain the style of showing the same story with out making people bored is the talent and that is what thrivikram did.
I am requesting reviewers to write the negative points if they are really negative but not for the sake of showing your analysis talent. Lack of story is not at all an issue if the screen play is good. Again screen play is nothing but making people not to wait for the interval and climax. Wong Kar Wai's slow, melodic romantic dramas have an enormous audience amongst hardcore film buffs. His ability to find and reflect the tragedy of his characters, and the journeys they take, strikes a chord with most who come across his work. But they're also the sort of movies that a single viewing is usually enough for most people; their stories so emotionally exhausting that a repeat watch is hardly ever warranted.
And it must be said; the language barrier is an issue. Subtitled films can be hard work for the general moviegoer and when combined with Wong's tendency to suck every ounce of emotion from his audience, it's often that his movies are simply too inaccessible for most.

But with Wong's first English-language feature, My Blueberry Nights, opening this year's Cannes Film Festival, it's clear that it is the emotional heart of his films and not the language they're made in, that makes them a difficult viewing experience. Fans of Norah Jones, Jude Law, Natalie Portman or Rachel Weisz will no doubt find a film they didn't expect. Fans of Wong Kar Wai will be pleased to hear that his first foray into the English language - and the star-power the project has attracted - has done nothing to dull the spirit with which he makes his films.Despite being best known as a musician, Wong gives Norah Jones the lead as a young woman who finds herself breaking up with her boyfriend and traveling across America to raise the money to buy a car. Along the way she meets a British caf¿ owner, played by Jude Law, David Strathairn's unlucky-in-love drunk and his estranged spouse - Weisz - and Natalie Portman's poker rounder, all of them distracting her from her own drama and helping her come full circle.Jones struggles as the film opens, perhaps bearing the weight of her inexperience, but as the journey begins she settles into the role, never treading Oscar-worthy waters but nevertheless providing an engaging anchor for the film's emotion.

Law's Manchester accent, on the other hand, is in a world of its own, switched on only when the script calls for him to say inherently northern things and rather forgotten otherwise. That he's playing a British caf¿-owner living in New York is fair enough, but the necessity to have him damage his performance by not using his own accent is rather curious.Weisz and Strathairn, perform well, as does Natalie Portman, who arrives late and keeps us interested to the end, but most are victims of a script that doesn't really provide the level of dialogue its emotional core requires, as characters spout clich¿d philosophies with little of the power Wong's films have shown in the past.

Fans of his work will leave My Blueberry Nights happy that his first English language film is no outright disappointment, but they'll never class it amongst his best work. General audiences will likely be lost, but the film's cast list may just attract those who were wanting for Wong Kar Wai and had yet to find him. And if the film can win the auteur even more fans, then it can't really be that bad.

Story:
The film Gamyam comes as a ray of hope that Tollywood Industry is going in the positive way and will live to an extent in the year 2008. This year till date, we have been witnessing a series off flops from big stars like Balakrishna to Nagarjuna to small stars like Gopichand and Raja. Except for Krishna which was an average flick, all the other films were huge flops at the box office.
Gamyam the movie starts wit the story of a rich Guy Abhiram (Sarvanand). He is the younger sibling in the house and has grown up as a spoilt brat in the house. He is a son of a rich industrialist who has innumerable Riches and properties. As is the case with many rich people, Abhiram has also a bug in his mind that poor and middle classed people are ill mannered and are bad natured.So Abhiram never mingles with people who are not up to his mark in the riches. At this time, he comes across a beautiful girl named Janaki (Kamalinee) . Janaki is an orphan who comes up in life the hard way. She is a doctor by profession and she serves the poor and the less privileged.The two become close and mingle closely. However, Abhiram doesn’t like Janaki’s modest background and her social services. In the same way Janaki also hates Abhiram’s attitude of hating the poor and loving the richer class.
Janaki who becomes vexed with his attitude leaves him and goes away. Abhiram is now desperately in look out for Janaki.Then enters the character named Seenu (Allari Naresh) who is a petty thief. Abhiram due to some incidents comes in contact with Seenu and with his help tries to trace out Janaki. The two search for Janaki on Seenu’s bike.Abhiram finally manages to trace Janaki at a small village where she is serving the poor.
It is here that Abhiram learns the true meaning of life, while his long journey with Seenu makes him understand the lessons of human nature and also the realities inside the lives of the rich and the poor.Finally, Abhiram changes in the climax and all ends in a happy note.
Performance:
Sarvanand gives a good account of himself as a rich spoilt brat. It can be concluded that this guy has turned into a serious hero and is improving day by day. This film will definitely give a boost to his career and will also offer good film roles as such, in his coming future.Allari Naresh finally comes up with an outstanding performance. It can be said that, he is the main meaning of the movie. His character of Seenu is well carved and has full scope to entertain the audience and also to give a message. His comic timing is excellent.Kamalinee Mukherji’s role is not very lengthy. She is in the first half for about 158 minutes and then in the second half for 20 minutes. But her role is a need to the movie and also plays a pivotal role in making the audience glued to their seats. She exposes averagely. But truly speaking, she has finally changed a lot. Her beauty, her curves from top to bottom are ravishing and will make the male fans of her drooling over her in their sleep. She is now a full fledged heroine with good dancing skills and expressions.On the whole the film is quite interesting and will entertain the audience very well. Though it seems to be a message oriented in the end, it has been said in a novel and agreeable way. Full credit goes to the director who made this film with small, but good actors.The film is definitely worth watching and will give your every rupee back with its full entertainment. It is a family entertainment movie.

Story: Gyeon-woo is a single Korean college student, still not very sure of what he wants to become in the future. One night, on his way back home, he meets an extremely beautiful girl, but who is also completely drunk. Because the girl talked to Gyeon-woo before falling unconscious, the people surrounding them begin to think that the girl is Gyeon-woo`s girlfriend. Having no other choice than helping the girl, he decides to leave her in a motel, since he doesn't know were she lives. The next morning Gyeon-woo gets a call from this mysterious girl who is very angry about him and wants to know everything that happened the past night. She tells him to meet her right now at the exit of the metro. Gyeon-woo thinking about this, decides to go see the girl. From that night, Gyeon-woo and the girl will become good friends, in a strange sense. As the relation progresses, Gyeon-woo begins to discover how crazy the girls really is, with all her wacky behaviors, angry attitude and always wanting him to please her the way she wants, even if it mean that Gyeon-woo will pass for a complete idiot in public places or gets beaten by the girl. But even if Gyeon-woo suffer, physically and mentally, he really thinks that this beautiful girl will have some sorrow in her and he really wants to help her to get better. But at what price?
Review: Why do I hate teen movies so much? Because of their uninteresting crappy love story and their unbelievable typical characters (you know that the supposed ugly girl is a perfect super babe when she takes off her glasses). Also because I can't support all the clichés and stereotypes that these kinds of movies like to exploit so much. It's just not funny to me anymore. Of course, because in most cases, cinematography wise, these movies mean absolutely nothing, for me they have almost no artistic values, I just found them a complete waste of time.
But why do I love "My Sassy girl" so much? Because of that unpredictable and enjoyable love story and that the two characters in the movie were awesome and touching, especially that memorable and beautiful Korean girl. Also, that the humor was always right on time, not trying stupid sex jokes or stupid humor, unlike other movie of its genre right now and that visually the movie was surprisingly very well done.
Okay, I know what you are thinking right now, "He said love story, this is a freaking chick flick then!" No not at all…well okay, this movie has a lot of material to please more to a female audience but trust me, just once. I really don't like these kind of movies and drama makes me sleepy, but I was really touched by this sweet romantic story. The story looks simple and yes it is, but there are a lot of things going on during the movie that you will probably miss some of the subtle details the first time you watch it. These details are not essential to the comprehension of the story but it makes a second viewing even more fun. The first part of the story concentrates more on the development of the characters, it really gave us the time to know them and begin to feel attach to the two main characters. Feeling sorry for Gyeon-woo when he gets beaten or humiliated by the girl, but also that a guy can't stay indifferent by that sweet little face that girl can make when she wants to be taken care of. The story is really only about the two main characters and I can't tell you anymore about it because it will spoil the development of their relationship.
Strangely, the cast is almost composed by only two people, most of the rest of the characters consist of the parents of the two main characters and that is about it. And to be entertained during more than 2 hours by only 2 actors, that is a real challenge and they succeeded at it. The characters are far from those cliché teen movies, Gyeon-woo looked at first like the average guy, but this will change as soon as he will become the slave of the girl. Cha Tae-Hyeon played the role of the poor victim boyfriend very good, making every humiliating moment a great laugh for us and also making us feel pity for him when things were not going as he would like to.
As for the girl itself, well I never saw a female character as crazy as this, I mean on a realistic level of course. The girl was played by Jeon Ji-Hyeon and be ready to be amaze by this Korean queen beauty. Her acting was great but how she personalized that girl was even more amazing. How a sweet little girl like this can be so violent, disturbed and extreme will probably amaze you but what is sure is that it will make you laugh. Love her for her beauty or hate her for her behavior, this character was the shine of the movie. Unforgivable that's for sure, specially if you're a guy who likes Korean girls.
Since it is a love story, there are a lot of melodramatic moments in the movie, but these moments appear in the movie only near the end, at the moment when we are really attach to the characters and that is why the drama really works in the movie. Unlike other films who try to make us feel sad right at the beginning, "My Sassy Girl" takes its time to let us appreciate the two characters and to wish the best for them. The first half of the movie contains most of the jokes, since it tries to introduce us these two wacky characters. Apparently, the film was based loosely on a true story, it's not hard to believe since most of the jokes were very realistic, in a way that by pure chance or bad luck, these situations could have really happened. Also the humor was easy to understand and was not much about Korean culture, so even if you are not familiar with Asian comedies, you won't have any problems in liking the type of humor in the film. Unless you are looking for stupid sex jokes or over the top humor, you might be really disappointed. Be ready for a lot comical situations, great laugh and some unexpected surprise along the way.
Visually the movie was also interesting and great to follow. Using colorful and cartoonish backgrounds to make the transition to different events or just how the camera was handling on some scenes was just perfect. It really gives the right touch to make all these laughing scenes ever funnier. I can't point out any exact scenes that I have in mind because it will give you some spoilers about the development of the story. Also the music fits the humoristic and dramatic tone of the movie very well.
I have no real idea why I wanted to see "My Sassy Girl" in the first place. Maybe because I wanted to watch every Korean movie available or it got my attention because it was the second best selling movie, behind "Friends," in South Korea during 2001 and god knows how bad blockbuster movies usually are. I didn't expect too much from that movie, maybe which is the reason why I was so surprised about its quality. Or maybe, I was just simply in the right mood to watch this kind of movie. But what I am sure is that "My Sassy Girl" is one of the best Korean comedies I have seen and my favorite Korean movie for 2001 so far. If you like sweet comedies, don't miss this movie at all cost. If you are more into coarse humor or action oriented movies, maybe you might find the ride a little long but you never know, maybe you will also get a great surprise.

It recalls the flicks like ‘A Film By Aravind’, ‘Ave Kallu’, ‘Chandramukhi’ and similar ones. The film is completely treated with horror and leaves the audience with many questions in head until the climax.
Story: Mantra (Charmy) is a parentless girl and the owner of her ancestral estate ‘Mantra Nilayam’. She wants to sell that big house at the outskirts of the city. But whoever comes as tenants in that house will be killed in mysterious way. Hence no buyer comes forward to buy that house. Finally a person comes to buy the house on a condition. The condition is that someone should stay there for 3 months and stay alive. Then Mantra herself thinks of living in that bungalow along with her friend. But her friend notices some evil spirit and gets frightened.
They vacate the place and come back. Meanwhile, Hero (Shivaji), a rowdy who lives on land settlements approaches Mantra. She asks him to stay in ‘Mantra Nilayam’ for 3 months saying about the place and mysterious deaths. Her thinks to take some commission from Mantra after selling that house. Hence he starts staying there along with his three friends. Suddenly on a day, one of his friends in the group gets killed in mysterious way.
Then the story takes a full horror swing from then. What is Mntra Nilayam? Why there are mysterious deaths? Who is Mantra? Watch on screen to find answers for all these.
Performances:Charmy excelled in her performance. Especially while showing fear in her face in second half she outshined. She added right tempo for the film with her glamour and performance. Shivaji is appropriate in his role.
Others are up to their mark.
The backbone of the film is music and sound effects. There are many moments where the audiences shake with fear. Editing also appeared to be very sane.
Cinematography should be lauded. Especially the toning effect is used appropriately. Direction by Tulasi Ram is up to the mark and production values are also very well within the requirement.
Analysis: It is common that majority of horror films many a time justify with rational reasoning at the climax. The horror graph falls down at that point. The crucial part in dealing with a horror subject lies at that point.
The belief and disbelief on evils and spirits depend on the faith of the beholder. It is not required for a horror film maker to justify that there is no evil spirit. That may not be relished by a set of audience. At the same time the director need not prove that there is ‘evil spirit’. Rational minds dislike that. So, a horror film can be concluded with a doubt on existence of such spirits. Such conclusion haunts for longer time. But there would be no doubts in mind once this film concludes. Everything is rationalized at the end.
First half of the film is a mixture of little comedy and some horror. Second half is completely treated with high dose of horror. On a whole, it’s film for good time-pass. The presence of Charmy pulls young crowds to theaters. Music is another added factor for pulling youngsters. The film may go successful if youngsters become its patrons.

Although some marketers might dub this American Pie 5, this is really just another direct-to-video spin-off of the trilogy, taking place after (although not a sequel to) American Pie: Band Camp, featuring a new ensemble of characters (Eugene Levy is the only character to reappear).
In this version, John White stars as Erik Stifler, younger brother to Steve and Matt, and also a bit of the black sheep of the Stifler family, mostly because he is in his senior year in high school and still a monogamous virgin. If he had his way, it would be different, but his sweetheart girlfriend, Tracy (Schram), just doesn't feel she is ready to take it past "dry humping". In an effort to alleviate the peer pressure for Erik, Tracy agrees to allow him a "free pass" weekend, where he can lose his virginity without her, no strings attached. It's the perfect weekend for such an agreement, as his best buds are taking him to run in "the Naked Mile", whereby some some university students run around campus sans clothing once a year to blow off steam, followed by a night of wanton hedonism, where even an insecure high school kid like Erik is sure to score. Trouble is, Tracy begins to second guess her decision, hoping that Erik won't be able to go through with it.
At this point in the series, if one can still call it that, you know it's going to deliver exactly what you expect, no more, no less. You know that the main premise is going to be about high school boys out to get laid. You know much of the humor is going to be of the scatological variety, mostly involving embarrassing situations of a public nature. You know that there's going to be a fair share of nudity and drunken debauchery. You know there's going to be pop and rock tunes blaring from beginning to end. You know that it's going to end on a sweet note, making up for all of the crass behavior that came before. A film like this is almost critic-proof: those picking this up know what they are getting into, and won't mind the redundant qualities of the plot line -- all they want is a few good yuks, some mindless titillation, and something gross enough to tell their buddies about the next day.
Despite the fact that it is predictable, unoriginal, and dips fairly deep in the crude humor department to get laughs, I find it difficult to hate American Pie: The Naked Mile, as it fills that certain niche that fans of the series just can't seem to get enough of. While it doesn't really approach the original film in terms of overall quality, it's on par with most of the other films to come after it, with an appealing cast of young actors, punchy direction, and an amiability in its delivery aimed strictly at fans of the "teen sex" subgenre that the series has been on the forefront of.
I would be remiss in not mentioning that the film has a fair share of disgusting sight gags, such as urine in someone's face, uncontrollable defecation, projectile vomiting, bestiality allusions, and a host of other politically incorrect jokes (featuring nearly every slur against "little people" one might imagine). There's not one, but TWO scenes where semen shoots out several feet striking people in the face, including one that results in Stifler's grandmother dying from the shock of getting "tagged" by her grandson's man-juice. There is also much more nudity than in the other four films, which you'd expect from a film with a "Naked Mile". Plenty of T&A, for viewers stuck between fixes of that good ol' "dumpster porn".

The film follows Erik Stifler (John White) to college with his best bud Cooze (Jake Siegel) where they will meet new friends and pledge his cousin’s (Steve Talley) fraternity, the Beta House. The film returns many of the characters from American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile but since plot is not the primary storytelling device those who didn’t see the previous film (like me) shouldn’t feel like they’ve missed much.
There are also love stories between Erik and the cute Ashley (Meghan Heffern) and Cooze and a Southern belle with a embarrassing secret (Sarah Powers), and the ongoing battle between the Betas and the Geek house, but that’s just window dressing for nudity, semen and vomit jokes, and general mayhem.

Krishma Vamsi takes a brilliant script and plays it to the gallery. Mahalakshmi (Kajal Agrawal), daughter of Ranga Rao (Naga Babu), is all set to marry Dora Babu (Siva Balaji) of the same village. Ranga Rao is a highly respected man of the village and Dora Babu also hails from a well to do family. Dora Babu is a simple and hard workingman. He is in the seventh skies after his match is fixed with the most beautiful girl of the village. But soon he realizes that his dreams are short lived. Mahalakshmi has a past. She was in love with a boy named Kishore (Navadeep) when she was studying in the city. And she thinks that Kishore used her. Mahalakshmi opens up and tells her miserable past to Dora Babu. So Dora Babu sets on tracking down Kishore to teach him a lesson for cheating Mahalakshmi.The script is brilliant. The direction is good too. But Krishna Vamsi plays to the gallery. Krishna Vamsi has stuck to the traditional image of an Indian heroine. The way he has shown changing lifestyles through his character Navadeep, the physical innocence factor is regressive. Krishna Vamsi takes us to the 21st century and yanks us back to the mid 20th century India. And the movie drags in the second half a bit. With the leading characters heading to a temple to find a solution to their problem is repetitive.There is no connection between the word 'Chandamama' and the title of the movie, except that it becomes the theme of an antakshari session, a la Hum Apke Hai Kaun, between the families of the bride and the groom.Otherwise there are pleasant scenes and nice acting by Siva Balaji, Navadeep, Kajal Agrawal and Sindhu Menon. Siva Balaji was good in the drunken role,ahuthi prasads action was awesome. Krishna Vamsi gives a decent movie for families to watch and relax.

Its like watching a college campus video. Its the pleasant story of boys and girls studying in a college. Sekhar Kammula once again touches the receptive channels of the audiences pleasantly.
Story: Four boys Chandu (Varun) , Rajesh (Nikhil), Tyson (Rahul) and Shankar (Vamshi Krishna) and four girls Madhu, Appu, Sravanthi and Sangeetha are the new admissions in an engineering college, CBIT to specify. The entire story is how the relations develop among these bys and girls in the four years of their studies. The love, hatred, happy days and sorrow moments and all fall on the silver screen till the grand finale. Thats only for watching but cannot be read.
Performances: The performances of all young boys and girls are impressive. The main heroine Tamanna is fresh and fair. Her body language resembles Sada to some extent. Gayatri Rao also did a fair job as Appu. Sonia, who played Sravanthi is hot and intersting. Monali Choudary who played Sangeetha is sufficient.
Coming to guys, Rahul did a lot and his diction is typical. Nikhil and Chandu are appropriate to their roles. Vamshi did his best.
Kamalini Mukherjee appears in the role of a glamorous English teacher and thats just for a pleasant break.
The entire credit in giving characterizations for all these artistes goes to Sekhar Kammula. He is the man behind carving this long story of four pairs. Screenplay matters very big in such films and the responsibility falls immense in making audiences sit to the seats till the end.
Two songs Arare and Paadametu Paduthunnaaa are very interesting. Lyrics by Veturi, Vanamali and Venkatesh Patwari are good. Micki J Mayors music has a separate mark for itself.
The film is good on a whole but it pleases only the audiences who are aware of campus education. It is not a right dish for typical mass audiences anyway. It appeals for multiplex audiences, educated crowds and above all for US-Andhrites.
Analysis: Dont miss the film for the amount of nostalgia it has. One can go back to his lovely college days. And for students its a lively celluloid story where they can see themselves on screen. All the feelings from college humor to romance to sentimenteverything can be seen in the flow of 2 and half pleasant hours. The film proved to be an entertainer by the stuff in it. But if you expect some non stop humor and rib tickling scenes, thats not there. Its a neat film made in Kammulas style. The artistes are new but they have excelled in their roles. The film is worth watch by all sets of audience.
Fist half of the film goes with introduction of characters. Second half appears to be little dragged but thats what happens when four love stories are to be concluded. The scenes sometimes are routine in second half and seldom has the tempo graph suffered ups and downs.
